EUMARSIN launch at EUROCEAN 2000 Conference, Hamburg
The EUMARSIN project was officially launched at the EUROCEAN Conference held in Hamburg from 29th August to the 2nd September 2000.

The EUMARSIN and EUROCORE project co-ordinators Dr Constantine Perissoratis and Dr Guy Rothwell both gave presentations at 'The availability of data for marine research' Session on Friday 1st September. This was followed by the official launch of the EUMARSIN Project at the EU-SEASED display in the main exhibition hall. The launch was introduced by Dr Christian Patterman of the EC Research DG and was attended by over 200 delegates. Dr Perissoratis gave a presentation describing the work of EuroGeoSurveys and the EUMARSIN partners.

The EUMARSIN and EUROCORE partners also presented a  poster describing the project objectives and a combined poster display outlined the EU-SEASED metadatabase and its benefits to the user community. The display attracted significant interest and the EU-SEASED representatives distributed publicity material including leaflets, brochures and stickers. The EUMARSIN poster narrowly missed winning a prize for the best poster display, having been placed in the top five.
