The EUROSEISMIC database provides a searchable catalogue of over 2.5 million line kilometres of marine seismic and sonar survey data held at European institutions. Searches can be made using an interface combining geographic and text fields searching, which allows searches on a wide range of parameters. The results of your search lists only metadata; access to actual data and any related datasets is for negotiation between the user and the repository where the data is stored. Contact information for each data holder/owner is provided and, where possible, the terms of data availability is given.

Click the button below to access the user interface. You will then be able to search the EUROSEISMIC database.

Important for Windows XP and Apple Macintosh users: Read this.

You can search the data in two diffent ways: In "survey modus" and in "line modus".

Survey mode
If you select ‘surveys’, your search results will only include survey areas. In the results page, all surveys within your search area will be shown on the map on the left of the screen, with a list of the surveys given below the maps. The map on the right or ‘Survey Details’ will automatically show the first survey on the list and the associated metadata (use the scrollbar to see the metadata). Note that the map on the right also shows the track lines within the selected survey area, but you are not able to view metadata for individual tracks when in this mode (see below). You may obtain metadata for any survey by selecting from the main map on your results page using the search tools or by selecting from the list. The survey you are viewing on the ‘survey details’ map will be highlighted on the main map.
This is the faster version of the search facility.

Line mode
If you would like to obtain metadata for individual track lines, please select ‘lines’ for the search. The results page will show all tracks within your search area on the map on the left of the screen, with a list of tracks given below the maps. The map on the right or ‘Line Details’ will automatically show the first line on the list and the associated metadata (use the scrollbar to see the metadata). You may obtain metadata for any line by selecting from the main map on your results page using the search tools or by selecting from the list. The line you are viewing on the ‘line details’ map will be highlighted on the main map.
This version of the search facility is slightly slower because the line database is much larger than the survey database.
